In addition to traditional survey methods using electronic distance measurement (EDM) total stations, in conjunction with hand held lasers, Douglas Land Surveys also utilise 3-dimensional scanning equipment to undertake as-built surveys. Such 3D Scanning equipment is invaluable when surveying complex buildings or structures, such as historic cathedrals or historic buildings, as the level of detail produced far exceeds the limitations of traditional survey methods. From the scanned results, elevations, floor plans and sections of a structure can be produced, together with a complete 3D model of the structure, for subsequent analysis and compliance with current BIM legislation.
