Efficient 3D scanning solutions
Douglas Land Surveys utilise the latest high-definition 3-dimensional laser scanners, enabling them to produce extremely detailed as-built drawings of the most complex building or structure, both internally and externally, thereby giving the development team a comprehensive and highly accurate measured survey on which to develop their design proposals. All such data can be viewed in a full 3-dimensional format and is ideally suited to comply with the requirements of the latest BIM regulations.
Used Steve and his team on a number of occasions. Excellent prompt detailed service would highly recommend

Modern laser scanners
The point clouds generated by modern scanners allow every aspect of a particular structure to be captured to a level of detail which is not possible with traditional survey methods. Such a level of survey detail allows any aspect of the most complex structure to be analysed and presented to the design team for subsequent development works, including elevational drawings, sections, floor plans or even 3-dimensional viewing and presentation.

Complete measured building surveys
In addition to traditional survey methods using electronic distance measurement (EDM) total stations, in conjunction with handheld lasers, Douglas Land Surveys also utilises 3-dimensional scanning equipment to undertake as-built surveys. Such 3D scanning equipment is invaluable when surveying complex buildings or structures, such as historic cathedrals or historic buildings, as the level of detail produced far exceeds the limitations of traditional survey methods. From the scanned results, elevations, floor plans and sections of a structure can be produced, together with a complete 3D model of the structure, for subsequent analysis and compliance with current BIM legislation.

Detailed Elevational Surveys
The elevational survey method involves the preparation of detailed elevational drawings of existing buildings and other structures, where no current details or information exist.
By using EDM total stations, equipped with co-axially mounted lasers, any point on a building facade can be accurately recorded in three dimensions, with all data being automatically logged on a data card.
This method of measuring building detail is of particular importance when recording facade detail, as all survey data can be recorded from ground level, using the coaxially mounted laser. This method records the three-dimensional building detail automatically, by reflectorless data recording, thereby avoiding the necessity for ladder or platform access.
Electronic Data Preparation
All survey details are downloaded into CAD software for subsequent data processing prior to outputting data in both hard copy and electronic format. This service is of particular relevance to architects and local authorities, who need detailed elevational drawings of existing structures to ensure that new development works blend in with existing structures and do not exceed allowed or existing height limitations.
